Goetz Oestlind (*1977) studied piano under Conrad Hansen’s alumni Gisela Stumme and Prof. Lev Natochenny. He completed his studies of Applied Cultural Studies with a Master’s degree (M.A.) and earned his Ph.D. with a dissertation on “Counterpoint in Film Music”. Oestlind’s compositions arouse desire and create drama, and they touch deep down inside:
“For me and for the power of music, it is the greatest gift of all when my compositions capture the listener’s heart.”
In 2013, Oestlind gained sustainable access to his inherent gift of composition. Since then he has composed well over 150 pieces for piano, piano & chamber orchestra and for piano & symphonic orchestra. Since 2020, his music has been noticed by a rapidly growing audience:
In July 2020, his composition “Bonne Nuit” reached #9 on the worldwide “Classical” charts on Apple Music, and in May 2021 his piece “Soluppgång” was listed at #4 worldwide.
In 2021, Oestlind’s “Piano Sonata No. 2” was awarded with the “Hollywood Music in Media Award” in the category “Outstanding Instrumental Performance (Piano)”.
In September 2021, Oestlind recorded his sixteen-minute “Fantasy for Piano & Orchestra in B Minor, Op. 8” with Sergey Belyavskiy and the “Czech National Symphony Orchestra” in Prague.
Beginning October 26th, 2021, the world-famous Richmond Ballet (Virginia/U.S.) performed eleven times the production “Jahreszeiten”, which was choreographed based on selected movements from Oestlind’s 6 Piano Sonatas.
